Porcelain Veneers
If your teeth are stained, chipped, or misaligned, veneers can offer extraordinarily life-like appearance of perfect teeth with little or no adjustment.
A Porcelain veneer is ceramic, which can be used in the front portion of your teeth to alter its color, shape, and size. And because they are very thin and are held in place by a special strong bond, very little preparation of the tooth is needed.
Veneers can also be used to close small gaps, when orthodontics (braces) are not suitable. If one tooth is slightly out of position, a veneer can sometimes be fitted to bring it into line with the others. Veneers can also repair fractures or broken chips in your teeth or simply change the shade of your discolored and stained teeth by using veneers.
Contact our office to see what type of dental correction procedure you will need. In some cases, the veneer fitting procedure can be done instantly, while in some cases you may need two visits. ‘’
Porcelain Fillings
Dental decay happens when the enamel and dentine of teeth become softened by the resulting acid attack, producing a cavity (hole). We can remove all the decay and restore the tooth with a porcelain restoration instead of unsightly silver (amalgam) fillings. We can also safely replace your existing silver fillings with porcelain that matches the color of your teeth.
Porcelain Caps
A crown is a ‘cap’ that fits over the entire surface of the tooth. The process of making a crown involves trimming the tooth down to the desired shape. Impressions of the tooth preparation are then taken. From the impressions, the laboratory can construct the crown.
Once fabricated, a crown is fitted over the tooth surface and bonded in place using special dental cements. The shape, size, color and surface characteristics of a crown are closely matched to the surrounding teeth. They are fabricated by master ceramists to the highest possible standards and once fitted, provide a seamless and permanent restoration to a tooth.
Crowns can last a lifetime and are necessary for a number of reasons:
- To restore heavily broken down teeth
- To restore heavily filled teeth
- To give form to broken or unusually shaped teeth
- To treat discolored teeth
- To realign crowded or spaced teeth
